Most Runs in IPL 2022

Every IPL season is increasingly becoming not just a sporting event, but a real hub for active betting in India. In 2024, online sports betting in the country was estimated at USD 6.91 billion. Experts now predict further growth to USD 16.83 billion by 2033. The Indo-Pacific region accounts for more than 45% of this revenue.

The IPL is a powerful catalyst for growth. In the 2024 season, platforms expected revenue growth of 30%. Profits were forecast to reach $500-525 million during the IPL.

Predictions and reality: real facts and records

In terms of engagement, IPL 2024 set new records:

  • 620 million viewers on the JioCinema platform and 546 million on Star Sports;
  • in the 2025 season, the opening matches attracted 253 million TV viewers and JioHotstar attracted 1.37 billion, with the final attracting 169 million;

The advertising activity of platforms is another influencing factor. During the 2024 IPL season, offshore betting apps spent huge amounts on advertising. Let’s also pay attention to social perception: one Reddit user pointed out that approximately 81% of IPL commercial breaks are filled with betting or crypto betting offers. The main event of the year in cricket is turning into one of the levers of influence on the sports betting industry.
